This is a FUN activity and something different to do with the students than just drill and repeat or conjugating. Students draw the picture that corresponds with the correct conjugation. You will find several of these that I created around the Christmas Holiday. Currently adding a lot more tenses! Look for one that I added today working with Stem-changing Verbs in the Present Tense.
Also, look for a stem-changing wordsearch that my students really enjoyed today!
Check out this Powerpoint project just added to our products! Students create slides with pictures or clipart depicting the prepositions of place in Spanish! Easy-to-grade rubric included on the instructions sheet. I spent about 4 days in the computer lab with my students and then gave them another 2 weeks to turn it in. You may even only allow them one extra week (they tend to procrastinate otherwise--even if they were almost finished in class!) It takes them at least 2 days to get focused and find or create all of the pictures or clipart for their project. Students later presented their projects to the class. Perfect for Spanish I or II--guaranteed they will KNOW these prepositions after this project!
Just posted today to TpT--Four items to add to your restaurant unit!
2 great menu projects (1 for Spanish I and one for upper level Spanish.)
A wordsearch of food, plac settings, and restaurant vocabulary.
A quiz for this unit using clipart.
The menu projects are always a hit! Get a local authentic restaurant involved by donating $5.00 gift cards/certificates to winners of the best menus in each (or a few from all) of your classes. Be sure to send them a thank you card/brochure highlighting your winners! The restaurant will love that you are promoting their business and Spanish in your classes and students love this incentive! Was a GREAT project last year in my classes!
¡Hola!
My name is Kristy García and I am very excited about Tpt and beginning this blog! Here I will highlight some great activities that we are doing this year in Spanish class!
Today, we did a fun activity using Tener Expressions. Students have already taken notes (see worksheets and Powerpoint) and practiced these expressions briefly in writing and speaking. After our warm-up activity, I showed them an example slide of a project I wanted them to do in class. This really only takes one class period and then you have a great bulletin board or visuals to use for this topic.
Materials needed for the project:
1. Example pictures (student examples or Powerpoint slide)
2. Old magazines
3. Glue sticks or scotch tape
4. Scissors
5. Paper
6. Markers
Instructions: Students are to look up 4 pictures in magazines that depict 4 different tener expressions and write a sentence underneath them. They turn them in at the end of the class period. (Make sure you leave 5 minutes toward the end of class for cleanup.)
Tomorrow, I actually plan on having them share their pictures with the class and read their sentences (using the elmo projector.) Then, I will hang them up around the classroom for other classes to see.
They really come up with some cute ones and it is amazing how quickly these expressions after this activity--even tener éxito and tener ganas de...!
